My Eleven year old had Adenoids/Sinus and Tongue Tie evaluated The staff and Dr. Setzen were extremely patient and kind to my son. Dr. Setzen explained all findings thoroughly and explained necessary procedures that would be needed to address my son's condition. He also suggested to have second opinion if we felt it was warranted which made me feel he was very trustworthy. He performed an Adenoidectomy, Frenectomy and resection of Turbinate's at the Ambulatory Surgical Center at Northwwell Manhasset. Dr. Setzen explained everything in detail to my son, me and my husband before the surgery. He made sure he was comfortable and answered all of his questions. The OR staff were also very kind and efficient. I was able to walk him into the OR and stay with him until the anesthesia was administered. This alleviated all of his and my pre-op fears. The surgery was done in less than an hour. He had a mild sore throat that day in which Tylenol worked. Minimal nasal drainage. He was able to go to his friends pool party two days later with no problems. We had follow up one week later at Dr. Setzens office with no complications. Our speech therapist said "The Doctor did a great job" Overall great experience. As a Mom and a registered nurse for 27 years, I would have to say that Dr. Setzen has to be one of the Best ENT surgeons that I have ever known. When I asked the other nurses I worked with about him, they all said the same thing "Your son will be in the best of hands". Thank you Dr. Setzen and staff.

Balloon Dilation Eustachian tube gave me relief of pain and pressure in my ears-also I was having ongoing sinus problems and nasal congestion and this was relieved with nasal and sinus surgery. Dr.Setzen gave me a new lease on life and I am very thankful. I highly recommend Dr.Setzen should you have this problem.

Top Surgeon As a physician I know firsthand how important it is to choose the right surgeon for a procedure. Dr. Setzen performed a nasal valve reconstruction and complex septoplasty procedure with exceptional results. Prior to the surgery, I was nearly unable to breathe thru my nose with complete nasal valve collapse when inhaling and I was unable to breathe silently. Post-surgery I was able to breathe clearly, and silently for the first time in over a decade. Additionally he significantly improved the appearance, resolving a severe twisting of the nasal bridge. I couldn't be happier with the results from this major surgery. His Follow up and office staff are terrific, and he will take the time to explain everything regarding the upcoming procedure with you. Exceptional Dr. Setzen treated me for chronic sinus infections. He performed surgery that other doctors wouldn’t contemplate. He worked with my pulmonologist to ensure a very positive outcome. Dr. Setzen continues to monitor my sinuses and I have not had a problem since I have been in his care.

21 Year Old's Tonsillectomy and Sinus Surgery: Success! Dr. Setzen performed my tonsillectomy, septoplasty and sinus surgery three weeks ago. Dr. Setzen answered all my questions, checked up on me frequently after surgery, and accommodated my limited timeframe. He had a wonderful bedside manner and I am very pleased with the results - although the tonsils were painful, I was able to eat and speak normally a week after surgery and I was breathing better within days. Highly recommend!

Our go-to ENT doctor... the best Dr. Michael Setzen, my ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor had noticed my symptoms of gastric reflux and he wanted to further examine me to confirm his diagnosis and to make sure I did not have any unhealthy tissue. He scheduled and then performed a TNE (trans-nasal esophagoscopy) procedure in his office. Before he used an ultra-thin scope called an esophagoscope, he numbed it up my nose and throat with a topical medicine spray. He then inserted the scope ever so gently through my nose. He was able to examine and video record the entire path from my nose through my vocal cords all the way to my stomach. He also was able to take samples to biopsy (happily all clear). I chose not to have the procedure performed by a gastroenterologist as an outpatient at a hospital because it would have required a lot of my time, an IV or other medication to make me drowsy during the procedure. That all would have been necessary if I had scheduled an upper endoscopy with a gastroenterologist as a hospital outpatient instead of with Dr. Setzen. I have to admit I was nervous and afraid I would gag during the procedure, however his experience, skills and calming nature kept me relaxed throughout the exam and allowed him to complete the entire exam in less than 5 minutes. With Dr. Setzen there was no pain, no gagging, no lost time (compare to if I had gone with a gastroenterologist) and best of all… instant feedback as to what was learned during the exam. No doubt about it, Dr. Setzen is the best.

Excellent I suffered for 6 months with a sinus infection that caused serious facial pain and the inability to breathe through my nose, smell or taste. I saw a number of ENT specialists and was given strong antibiotics and steroids for several months. I have finally found one exceptional doctor whose care and concern for my situation is beyond belief. He performed the balloon sinus dilation surgery in his office and I feel like a new person. The pain is completely gone and I can breathe normally. He is like dealing with a trusted friend and I will refer everyone I know to him. Sinus infections, snoring, headaches and loss of smell For many years I have had seasonal sinus infections and head aches that got so bad I would go to my regular doctor for help. They would give me some type of antibiotic and it would go away for awhile and then return. Then I started to snore all the time. So my wife pushed me to find out why and what to do about it. I learned of Dr. Setzen from taking my in-law to him years earlier. Dr. Setzen did an excellent exam of my sinuses to find most of the problems where being caused by polyps in my sinuses. I made the big mistake of waiting to take care of them that they grew to be over 100 of the in my sinuses. Don't wait and prolong the issues like me go get it looked at. They had grown so much that I could no longer smell and also pressure headaches. After having them removed and short healing time I began to stop snoring my smell is coming back and no more sinus infections with the headaches. I now go for a regular check to be sure they don't grow back. I am also breathing better since the nasal passages are not blocked by the polyps. The longer you wait to take care of these things the more they grow stop living with bad sleep headaches and poor breathing and sense of smell stop by Dr. Setzen and get it checked out before it becomes a larger problem than it has to be.

The Greatest Experience I originally came to Doctor Setzen for a second opinion on a tonsillectomy. After a very thorough examination, Dr. Setzen found that I had a deviated septum and other sinus issues. Because of a slight deformity on my nose, I inquired about a possible rhinoplasty. I was very impressed with how Dr. Setzen spent as much time as was needed to explain everything to me. He was very professional, patient, and reassuring, and I really felt comfortable and trusted Dr. Setzen to do my surgery. I was very hesitant about the rhinoplasty. I am extremely picky and particular. Dr. Setzen was not pushy he gave me the option and said I'm only going to do it if you really want it. After much thought, I decided to go ahead with it, but I had to be reassured that Dr.setzen knew exactly what I wanted. He took the time to meet with me before surgery to make sure he understood, and that I was comfortable. What impressed me was how he took the time to really listen to me and cared about my concerns. The day of surgery went better than I ever expected. I had 4 procedures all at once and I recovered like a dream. I had a little discomfort from the tonsils but no pain at all from the sinus and nasal surgery, and almost no bruising, I was back at work a week later. I amazed at how much better I was able to breathe, but the best part of it all was the results of the rhinoplasty. I am extremely happy with the way it came out. I get compliments all the time.
