Dr. Setzen was part of a Surgical Design Team of 6 leading ENT Surgeons from around the world. The team partnered with Industry (namely Gyrus-ENT and Ideo) to design the new Diego Powered Dissector [Microdebrider] to revolutionize the surgical treatment of sinusitis during Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. The design team included Fred Kuhn,MD; James Stankiewicz,MD; William Bolger,MD; Roy Casiano,MD; Michael Sillers,MD and Michael Setzen,MD. [September 2002]. This invention won a Gold Award in August 2003 from IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America) and Business Week.
