When I told Dr. Setzen that I had trouble breathing through my nose and that it was causing me problems, he explained the VivAer procedure and examined me, looking in my nose, to see if I was a good candidate. He said yes, and told me it has a 75% success rate and does not make things worse. So I agreed to the procedure. There was some local anesthesia, and the procedure itself was not painful and I did not bleed. At worst, I would say it was a bit uncomfortable for about 15 minutes. I went home, driving myself, and was able to resume my normal activities (but no heavy exercise for a few days). Now, with the procedure done, I can breathe much better through my nose, and my significant other has told me she has not heard me snore at night for the last two weeks, while in the past I have snored just about every night. I feel much better being able to breathe the way our bodies are meant and designed to breathe.

just now New Nineteen years ago, Dr. Setzen was highly referred to me by another physician when my son had severe hearing loss and speech delay as a result of chronic ear fluid. To this day, every college break, he makes sure he has an appointment to see him. He truly has been amazing with him whether it be 6 sets of ear tubes, adenoids removal, tonsil removal, to resetting his broken nose. During this time, my husband and father in law have also been treated by him. Exactly a week ago, it was my turn. I finally had endoscopic sinus surgery, turbinate reduction surgery, and surgery to repair a severely deviated septum that was impacting my breathing and sleeping daily. I met with Dr. Setzen years ago about this. And just decided to “ deal with it by not dealing”. The night of my surgery, Dr. Setzen told us he’d be calling to check in and indeed he did. In addition to the frequent appointments, there have been daily calls checking in by either Dr. Setzen or Moya. Moya has been amazing assisting Dr. Setzen during my visits and dealt with all of the scheduling seamlessly. She also made sure all medication was called into the pharmacy prior to surgery so I wouldn’t have to deal with anything. I can honestly say that since the splints are out, I am finally able to breathe through my nose without feeling constantly congested.

Dr Setzen is a very caring Doctor.

Dr. Setzen is absolutely amazing, and I can’t recommend him enough. He’s extremely personable, diligent, and truly cares about his patients. I had a deviated septum, cysts in my sinuses, a gummy smile, and both an elongated tip and a bump on my nose—so I needed both functional and cosmetic work. From the start, booking appointments with him was incredibly easy, and he made the whole process feel seamless. Surgery and recovery were shockingly quick and smooth—practically painless! Dr. Setzen continuously checked in on me, even on weekends, making sure I was doing okay and reminding me that I could reach out anytime. He listens to every concern and handles everything with ease. I was dreading the stent removal as well but it was nothing like what I expected, it was 100% pain free. And I didn’t need painkillers—not even Tylenol after day one! Best of all, my nose looks so natural and is exactly what I wanted. If you’re looking for a skilled, caring, and detail-oriented surgeon who doesn't treat you like a number, he’s the one.

Dr. Setzen and his team are amazing ! I could not thank them enough. I wish I knew about Dr. Setzen sooner. During the first visit, I was amazed that they were able to take a CT scan of the sinuses right then and there. I went to see him, because I was having recurrent sinus infections. I needed major sinus surgery and the results have been great ! Dr. Setzen and Moya called to check in to see how I was doing often after surgery- which I found to be very nice. Many doctors do not follow up with their patients often. Although the follow up visits are important and necessary after surgery, Dr. Setzen was gentle while he had to take care of a sensitive area. Moya was amazing and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. Will not go to any other ENT other than Dr. Setzen.

I only wish I had come across Dr. Setzen earlier. He noted that I had a deviated septum but did not recommend the large surgery, but a procedure called Vivaer. It was a simple in office procedure that made a huge difference in my breathing. Recovery was as described by Dr. Setzen, I'm breathing better than I have all my adult life. Dr. Setzen is a warm caring doctor, and can't forget Moya, his receptionist. Thank you both for a great experience.

I originally went to Dr. Setzen for a reoccurring ear infection which under Dr. Setzen’s care, has never again reoccurred. Having lived with an extremely uncomfortable deviated septum my entire adult life, Dr. Setzen recommended VivAer, a pain-free, non-invasive, in-office procedure, which offers relief from nasal airway obstruction. Once again, Dr. Setzen has given me relief from constant discomfort & the gift of a better quality of life. Dr. Setzen is a genuinely kind-hearted, gracious, compassionate man & an extraordinary doctor, beyond compare. He has my everlasting gratitude & my deepest respect.

I have a rare autoimmune disease which has done significant damage to my septum, and causes me problems with my sinuses, throat, and airway. Dr. Setzen has been the only doctor that has been able to give me relief. His vast knowledge, his skill in treating difficult cases and his wonderful bedside manner is what I had been looking for years. I’m so thankful to have found Dr Setzen and his wonderful staff.

One of a kind physician. The best kind! The night before my surgery (septoplasty, turbinate, rhinoplasty), I had a family emergency and considered postponing. I called Dr. Setzen and his warmth and concern were overwhelming. He told me not to worry and that whatever decision was best for the family was good with him. The next morning when I told him I was going to go ahead with it, he reiterated that I could cancel if it didn’t feel the timing wasn’t right. What doctor does that? I had the surgery, and in the weeks following, he continued to check in on my family. I can never thank him enough for his care and compassion. My surgical experience is just as impressive. It was easy, smooth, and with his expertise and skill, I had no pain, and a quick recovery. I never needed a painkiller! I can breathe like I've never breathed in my life. I'm so happy with my nose. It fits my face perfectly! So, to recap, Dr. Setzen is compassionate, caring, and one of the best surgeons around. Shout out to Moya who took amazing care of me too!
