Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
The development of the endoscope allows our doctors to view the inside of the sinus cavities to diagnose and treat the primary source of chronic sinus disease. Endoscopic sinus surgery is less invasive than other forms of surgery and offers rapid relief of symptoms with a quick recovery.
Dr. Setzen uses the most advanced equipment available in treating patients with disorders of the sinuses, including Computer Imaging and Balloon Sinuplasty. Computer Imaging is software that allows the surgeon to track instrumentation while performing Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, and allows the surgeon to know when he is near vital structures such the eye and the brain at all times. Balloon Sinuplasty is technology that assists the surgeon in dilating the sinus openings in a gentle and safe way to promote drainage from the blocked sinuses.
Sleep Apnea and Snoring
Sleep Apnea is a potentially serious medical condition, characterized by snoring and daytime sleepiness. It mostly affects obese men over the age of 40. This condition is associated with a higher risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and stroke. It is the most common cause of motor vehicle accidents among truck drivers.
Evaluation of sleep apnea is performed through home sleep studies. Our doctors can arrange for a quality sleep study to be performed in the convenience of your own home or at the hospital.
Dr. Setzen specializes in the latest treatments for sleep apnea and snoring including office-based surgical correction of snoring (Somnoplasty and Cautery Assisted Uvulopalato Plasty [CAUP])

Swallowing & Reflux
Dr. Setzen will evaluate your swallowing & reflux problem during the initial consultation, and will then perfom both FEESST and TNE at subsequent visits. TNE is Trans Nasal Esophagoscopy; an office-based endoscopy of the esophagus done under local anesthesia with the patient alert and awake. TNE allows the Doctor to evaluate the esophagus with or without pain. The patient is able to drive in and drive out without any pain and can resume all activities immediately after the TNE is done.
